About

NABT History

The National Association for Beginning Teachers is a non-profit, service organization dedicated to supporting new instructors, their pupils, and their schools. Founded in 1998, NABT serves the needs of today’s educators by providing a virtual community of counsel, advice, and educational resources with the ultimate goal of improving America’s teacher retention rate.

NABT Mission

NABT is dedicated to giving new teachers the tools they need to embrace their profession, helping them develop the skills necessary to succeed in the classroom, and encouraging them to remain enthusiastic as they face the challenges of the future in today’s classroom. Toward these ends, NABT is poised to offer a wide variety of services to help beginning teachers to not only survive, but to thrive in their new profession. Taking advantage of new media, NABT can extend a virtual hand of support to new teachers everywhere as they negotiate their footing in their classrooms with the ultimate goal of improving the new teacher five-year retention rate from 50% to 95%.

Teachers on Tour 2012

Teachers on Tour is the cornerstone project initiated by the National Association of Beginning Teachers (NABT), a membership organization of educators who believe in the mentoring and support of new teachers. Each Teachers on Tour Program lasts for three months. Each tour includes a group of 15 chosen teachers traveling to 10 key urban educational communities. The teachers will travel together in a specially-equipped motor coach with state-of-the-art technology to conduct extensive classroom engagement strategies, instructional role playing, deliver best-practice drills, conduct teaching seminars for teachers in the area, and participate in team-teaching of Science, Technology Engineering, ARTS and Math (S.T.E.AM.) initiatives.
