NABT BLOG

Hello! My name is J. Victor McGuire, President/Founder of the National Association For Beginning Teachers. I would like to briefly introduce you to our Blog. This will be one of the communication avenues we will utilize to provide you with periodic updates on the latest happenings within the organization. You are receiving this correspondence because you signed up for the free membership to our organization. We are an all-volunteer, bootstrapped organization with a simple vision to create a repository for teachers that focuses on providing beneficial support and services to beginning teachers nationally. It is an online community where teachers can come and have a professional exchange and receive free staff development materials to help and support them in the classroom.

The site will continue to grow and expand as veteran mentors and beginning teachers share their classroom stories (challenges, goals, etc.) with other members of the NABT community. The site will be member supported.

At the present time we have just over 1,000 members that have found us online and signed up. We would like to be at 5,000 members before school starts in the fall. Can you help us obtain a larger membership base by sharing us with 3-5 people in your education circle? It’s a free membership.

Our first initiative will be the launching of Teachers on Tour. We are the first mobile professional development program aimed to empower K-12 teachers to extend and share their knowledge in the areas of student engagement strategies, coupled with a focus in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Summary of Teachers on Tour

Fellows will be traveling with 15 teachers from all grades and disciplines in a Wi-Fi equipped motor coach, visiting 10 school districts in 10 great cities and staying with Host families. In each school you visit, you will share best practice strategies that will help increase knowledge in the areas of (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. You will also learn conversational Spanish, teach online to students across the country, produce an online magazine, create a documentary and help co-author a practitioner- based book of the Teachers on Tour experience. You will learn from some of the best educators on the planet, do a one-day workshop for teachers in the cities, identify and solve a curriculum problem from your district, make some great new friends and colleagues from around the country and have one amazing educational experience.

If this sounds like something you want to either be a part of or help us get the word out or even become state coordinator of the organization, contact me directly at: victor@beginningteachers.org.
Needless to say, we are very enthused about this initiative. Help us make this a reality for schools and teachers across the globe.
